CNN —A Mexican citizen was shot and wounded in the leg “while in Mexican territory” Saturday by a Texas National Guard member who was in the El Paso area, a news release from Mexico’s Foreign Ministry said. CNN —Texas has separated at least 26 migrant family units on the southern border since July 10 under Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star border initiative, according to Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid immigration attorney Kristin Etter. “This is just a very harsh and cruel detour from the asylum process,” Etter told CNN in an interview Wednesday. CNN —Approximately 100 letters containing a white powder have been received by state legislators and public officials across Kansas, officials said, setting off an investigation that includes state and federal agencies.
